I bought a new phone for the house's land line. Okay, Okay so I may still be an old school folgie but hey... It's what I want not you.
I had my land line turned off at the house for I was planning on changing to the the VoIP thingy and I shopped around a bit. T-Mobile had the best price of $10.00 a month. I know there are some USB type $20.00 a year bit but I didn't want it to be relied on a computer. AT&T U-verse wanted as much as a hard line and I forgot the cost of the others. There was a time that I or the Mrs. forgot to pay the ISP bill and we were turned off for a day. I paid immediately but it still took 24hrs to re-establish service.
So that got me thinking. What if this happens again, no phone. I have my cell but most of our accounts are linked to the home line. And especially the Mrs. QVC, HSN etc. accounts. She can pick up the phone, dial a few numbers, hang up and a delivery is made a few days later. Not a word spoken. It took me a while to figure it out but she got caught. No worries though, I have this place and she can't see what happens here.
I decided to go back to old reliable... the land line. No worries if there is a power outage or an ISP software upgrade or a... who knows what? The land line always worked as long as the bill was paid.
The phone I bought was the Motorola DECT 6.0 corded and cordless combo. Since I was concerned on a possible power outage, I had to have a hard wired phone also. This fit the bill quite nicely. It operates on 1.9ghz so it will not interfere with wireless LAN.
The base is still undecided as to where it will go. I purchased a second cordless handset and it linked without effort. I liked it so much that I bought another Mototrola DECT 6.0, cordless only with Bluetooth. I hope it will work with my BT headsets for I don't like holding a phone. I'd rather be holding a Flashlight. The BT description reads... "Allows user to make & receive cellular phone calls on home phone". WHAT? We'll see.
Just thought I'd share.
Njoy...
