Once all the outstanding projects are delivered to their owners, I will not be making one off or LED flashlights in small numbers. Due to the bad economic state worldwide, I am giving up. I can no longer make a living off custom lights. So, I will be making lights utilizing a contractor. Everything will be my design right down to the DC/DC converter. I am going to make the prices more competetive to the off-shore lights. Price will be $70.00 shipped worldwide.

Here are some quick specs:

HA III black/OD
T6061 aircraft grade aluminum
Cree XM LED
Multi function: 10% - 100% light output with low battery indicator
300 lumens + in high setting
1 x AA alkaline, NiMH or Energizer lithium AA
Optic: adjustable from flood to spot
Tailcap switch
Silicone o-rings
lanyard hole in tailcap
Carrying case
Serial number

Here are some pictures of the prototype. If there is anyone out there wanting a prototype, I have only 3pcs. These have different specs due to being prototypes. The LED used is a Cree XP-E R3 in brightness, has two levels of light and a slow strobe. If you would like to purchase one of these, I will part with one for $85.00 shipped. Contact me via e-mail or PM. I will update this thread from time to time when new information becomes available.

Just in case you are wondering why I went with an optic is because this is what flashlights used in the very begining when they were first made in 1898. Optic technology was still in its infancy and inefficient but now technology has grown so much, its possible to throw 96% light forward which is better than using a reflector.

The end of an era, a sad day.
Not suprised though after the endless problems and road blocks that you have been having with your recent projects, but none the less, this news saddens me. I am sure that your innovations will roll over nicely into more mass produced lights, and they will be nice(BTW, love the use of an optic and its fully adjustable!!), but the sometimes long waiting game for one of your pre-payed lights I will miss. Because even after the long wait, you are always still blown away by the final product in hand, and the last 5 or so years of my life (and others) have been in constant state of waiting for an upcoming MJ light that has been pre-payed for. Right now the SFIII Ti and the new ExtemeII, I will relish these last games of waiting for a MJ custom.
Mike, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors and I hope that using a contractor is less stressful and more lucrative in the end for you so that we can continue to enjoy your innovations for a long time to come!
Good luck.

Hello Mike,

as I already wrote you in a long email I am very sorry to hear that you will not produce lights any more.
You know that I am a big fan of your work and I own (or at least owned) most of the lights you ever produced.

Your design is the best I do know, your drivers are always top notch and you are able to get outstanding new LEDs long before others are able to do.

Sure you had some troubles with the mechanical work regarding your cases as well as some anodisation color mismatch problems.
But is this really your responsability, it is the work of other people or companies.

So I really hope you think again about your decision and look (finally !!!) for another mechanical workshop and anodiser to produce and anodise the future bodies of your lights.

No more ArcMania lights will probably also be the end for me collecting lights.

Jochen
